Day 7
Day 7: Your New Mantra: Rewriting Your Self-Talk
Your inner critic is a broken record—time to change the song.
Why do mantras work? Let’s break it down:
Neuroplasticity: Repetition strengthens neural pathways. Your brain physically changes as you repeat your mantra.
Cognitive Dissonance: When your actions align with your mantra (e.g., setting boundaries), your mind resolves the conflict by adopting the new belief.
Emotional Anchoring: Mantras interrupt panic loops (e.g., guilt spirals) by giving your prefrontal cortex a script to follow.
How to Craft Your Mantra:
Step 1: Identify a core codependent belief (e.g., ‘I’m selfish if I say no’).
Step 2: Flip it into a positive truth (e.g., ‘My no is a gift to myself’).
Step 3: Make it personal, present tense, and punchy (5–7 words max).
Your workbook today makes this simple and profound.
